Chicago, IL – December 2010 – Becker’s Hospital Review recently released the “52 Women Hospital & Healthcare Leaders” list. Debbie Hay, RN, BSN, CASC is named among the top women leaders in the hospital and healthcare industry. Texas Institute for Surgery named Ethics Award Winner by the Dallas Business Journal. salutes you in the North Texas Business Ethics Awards. In partnership with the North Texas Ethics Association, a panel of independent judges selected seven North Texas companies to recognize for their outstanding commitment to ethics.
WINNERS:
At the Texas Institute for Surgery, communication and respect form the foundation for an ethics policy based on delivering excellence.
“Excellence is our highest priority because it demonstrates our commitment to the continuous evaluation and improvement of quality, responsible use of resources and the willingness to embrace change when it comes to the best technology and procedures,” says President Debbie Hay.
“Caring is the easiest value for us because people who work at TIS have gone into the medical profession to provide compassionate, sensitive care. This comes across in every aspect of their care for our patients,” she says.
Hay describes the culture at the hospital as that of a close-knit family. Because of Hay’s clinical experience, she frequently can be found in any area of the hospital, not dressed in a suit but more often in scrubs.
“By being visible and involved, I hope to encourage employees to share their concerns with me so I can try to address their issues,” Hay says. “I also personally meet with each new employee to welcome them and orient them to the Corporate Compliance Plan. This way they can see from the first day, my commitment to maintaining an ethical, honest environment for everyone.”

Pretty simple. Make patients happy.
During the discussion the topic of Facebook arose. Hospitals that allowed the use of Facebook in their building had a higher patient satisfaction rating than Hospitals that blocked Social Sites.
